The Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship combines:

  • The UM NL Scholarship, funded by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund

  • The NL-High Potential Scholarship, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science

A total of 21 scholarships are available for the 2026–2027 academic year, amounting to €34,000 per scholarship, covering tuition fees, living expenses, insurance, and more.

⏳ Duration of the Scholarship

  • 13 months for a 1-year master’s program

  • 25 months for a 2-year master’s program

🌐 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be under 35 years old as of 1 September 2026

  • Hold citizenship in a non-EU/EEA country, Switzerland, or Surinam

  • Not hold dual EU/EEA nationality

  • Have applied for a full-time master’s program at UM for 2026–2027

  • Meet all admission requirements of the chosen program

  • Not have previously studied in the Netherlands (except exchange programs)

  • Demonstrate outstanding academic performance with official transcripts
